Shipping and handling charges are approximately $11.50 per 15 lbs. (medium flat rate priority mail box) or $15.00 per 25 lbs. (large flat rate priority mail box). Shipping rates for light packages under a couple pounds (depending on where you are) are generally less that $11.50.

Under "Quantity" please put the number of POUNDS for rough, the number of SQUARE INCHES for slabs. In your note, specify any details like minimum size of slabs. I will calculate S&H charges and bill you once we get the order squared away.

My obsidian is usually slabbed about 1/4" thick +/- 1/16" - it can be slabbed thicker for a litttle extra. Slabs are shaped as they come from the saw. Slabs can be from 1'' x 2" to about 4" x 4" for most material. Starred materials occasionally come in pieces large enough to get up to about 5x10" slabs, but PLEASE ask about larger rough and slabs before ordering! Starred materials (*) are occasionally available in sizes greater than 4x4"; all others are usually not available larger than 4x4"! SOLD OUT means I have none. Really. Everyone seems to expect a different thing when they
order needles from me. I dig these needles myself, and the
needles I sell are larger than 2" to 10" and longer and can be black, mahogany colored,
or mixed clear, black and mahogany. The needles that I dig are
needle-shaped; i.e. they have one or two pointed ends and are not too
fat in the middle (except for the big fat needles sold separately). Other than that they vary tremendously in thickness
and length! I have seen a lot of obsidian shards (and what appears to be glass!) passed off as needles online. Long/thin chunks of obsidian and glass that resemble actual obsidian needles (which only occur in significant quantities in nature at Davis Creek, California and nowhere else in the world, AFAIK), and cut or ground pieces (yes, really) or flakes of obsidian are NOT obsidian needles! My needles are mined at the source and I guarantee that they are really obsidian needles and not some other junk. There aren't too many websites that make this promise (again, as far as I know).
I grab a handful from my stock and weigh it when you order from me, so
you will get needles from more than 2" (the smallest I keep)
to exactly 4" (regular size), more than 4" to exactly 6" (large size), more than 6" to exactly 8" (jumbo size), and more than 8" to exactly 10" (giant size). Needles larger than 10" are sold by the INCH ($1.50/inch, a real bargain compared to rock show prices) so ASK about these and I'll check my stock.
If you think my prices are a bit high, most of the needles I have seen for sale on the net are of questionable pedigree at ridiculous prices: Check out the truly astonishing prices on the (mostly junk) needles on EBAY then come back here and order ACTUAL needles for a REASONABLE price! As of September 2012, I appear to be the ONLY person on the net selling needles by the pound outside of Ebay. Finally, please do not ask for needles of such-and-such a length and shape. High-grading my stock is not fair to the rest of my customers. If you want needles of exact dimensions, I sugget you buy them individually from someone else.

on heat treating material for knapping (usually needed to knap agate, jasper, etc. Obsidian does not need to be heat treated. A nice tutorial on
knapping slabs (please don't ask any
questions specifically about knapping, I am not a good resource, and pages like this exist for
your use and enjoyment!)
