Polished Thunderegg Specimens for Sale

Polished Thundereggs

PAGE 1

Welcome to thunderegg heaven! Almost all of these are Oregon thundereggs collected by myself and other rockhounds both in ancient times (in other words, 50 years ago) through the last time my trailer left the driveway! These are halves for display, not slabs. The size of each is noted, a well as the location where they were collected. None of the photos are enhanced - indeed, the photos don't do these proper justice. They are all have as high a polish as is possible have no visible scratches. I am extremely picky about that. Many of these are rare types that you simply aren't going to find for sale anywhere else. Unless you know somebody who knows somebody...
All pieces will be sent Parcel Post mail or flat rate priority mail ($9.55 - $20.95), depending on weight, whichever is less unless you specify the shipping method. The majority will be priority mail padded flat rate envelope = $9.55.

I also accept money orders and cashier's checks in the mail. I accept cash, debit & credit card payments if you pick up your rocks here (Oregon City)!

About Fluorescent Eggs: Many of these fluoresce in SW (shortwave) and/or LW (longwave) UV (ultraviolet) light. Some are spectacular, displaying bright and subtle green, yellow, blue, white, or purple colors. Many times the fluorescent colors are very different from the visible light colors, and don't necessarily look similar. In other words you can get a different "look" under UV light vs. visible light. I note where they are usually fluorescent under my SW and LW lights; some eggs fluoresce in green or yellow but not very strongly. They're still cool to look at under UV anyway. Click HERE for a boatload of examples from my collection.
If you've recently visited this page, be aware that your browser may have cached the images and although all browsers are supposed to catch new images and reload them, sometimes they don't. So hit the refresh button below just in case to make sure you have the latest pics.
There's a simple fix for Firefox:
Type "about:config" in the website address box. This should load the Firefox config settings in the window for editing. You may see a warning message stating, "This might void your warranty!" (which is an in-joke, they don't have one), click on it to load the settings. Then search for the "browser.cache.check_doc_frequency" key and change it to "1".
For those of you who are looking for something specific in my for sale pages, such as when I list new items, I might have a solution for you. You may want to try this: https://www.changedetection.com, I think all you do is sign up and enter the address of the page, for example if you are looking for equipment enter http://orerockon.com/equipment_for_sale.html, and they should send you an email when I add something. BUT, it probably will send you a notice when I change one letter of one sentence on the page, so you might get annoyed by it at some point. It's a great way to track when I list new polished items, since I typically don't change anything until something sells and/or I add items, and equipment, which I never change unless I add new pieces or change the status to "sold" as they sell.

Egg 01

Priday Plume Bed, Richardson Ranch, Madras, OR 4 1/4", this one is from the "right layer" to find the famous cauliflower plume agate eggs. It is, sadly, a "good try" specimen. Still, a very nice egg. Soooo close...
$13.00
YES
Egg 02 Buchanan Tube egg, OR 9", at least 5 pound monster. Almost nobody has these tube eggs, they are only found in the corner of one of 5 beds on the property. I dug it with the rancher (and his backhoe!). It was cut on 2 faces, they meet at the center, and are (securely!) expoxied together. You can't see the seam from the front side. This took me way to long to cut and polish, and it's painful but I have to let it go. Yes, I have the other half!

$65.00

YES
Egg 03 Buchanan Tube egg, OR 5 1/4" egg, another segment of the same egg. I think it was around 16" long. As you can see the upper right corner is on a different angle than the rest of it.
$25.00
YES
Egg 04 Buchanan bed, Buchanan OR 3 3/4", nice botyroidal chalcedony cavity. For the thundergeeks, when part of the shell breaks off during formation and ends up surrounded by agate, it's called a "floater".

$12.00

YES
Egg 05 Pink Abbey bed, Madras OR 4 1/4", this is a special egg so locality collectors take note! This bed has changed hands a handful of times and has only been dug a handful of times. It's pretty much legendary among locality collectors. If you have some, it's likely you were there with me on the 2 trips that the previous owner hosted. This one has a small area filled with epoxy above the red dot. It's also from a newer bed than the one that had been seriously dug.
$20.00
YES
Egg 06 Priday Moss Bed, Richardson Ranch OR 3 1/4" brown/gold moss agate.

$3.00!

SOLD
Egg 07 Succor Creek, Owyhee Mountains, OR 4 1/2" triple egg, this comes from one pit that I know of that has the black flecks in the agate.

$15.00

SOLD
Egg 08 Lucky Strike Mine, Ochoco Mtns., OR 2 1/2" cute little bugger.

$6.00

YES
Egg 09 Ochoco Agate Bed, Ochoco Mtns., OR 2 1/2", unusual opaque waterline center. Most of these have clear agate.

$8.00

YES
Egg 10 Priday Red Bed, Richardson Ranch OR

5 1/4", some really dense moss. 1 Cent WITH $25 PURCHASE from the polished rocks, fossils, and cabochons pages only. Please order only one 1 cent piece per order.

$20.00

YES
Egg 11 Priday Red Bed, Richardson Ranch OR 3" Weird tan colored "stuff". 1 Cent WITH $25 PURCHASE from the polished rocks, fossils, and cabochons pages only. Please order only one 1 cent piece per order.

1 Cent

SOLD
Egg 12 Priday Blue Bed, Richardson Ranch OR 3 1/4", very nice colors for this bed. as you can see in the photo this egg has 2 faces.

$13.00

YES
Egg 13 Secret Ridge, Buchanan, OR 3 3/4" unusual split center in this one. The bed is so old that most of the shell on almost all of the eggs has crumbled away.

$12.00

SOLD
Egg 14 Friend Ranch, Ashwood, OR 3", I'm not sure but this may have been when the bed was opened sometime in the late 60s - early 70s. I'm quite sure nothing like it has come out of the bed since we reopened it in 1994. Cut flat on the bottom but it barely stands up.

$13.00

SOLD
Egg 15 Moss Bed, Richardson Ranch, OR 3 3/4" very unique egg for this bed. There are a few mossy stringers in beautiful red and clear agate.

$14.00

YES
Egg 16 Friend Ranch, Ashwood, OR 3 1/2", cut flat on the bottom but it barely stands up.

$12.00

YES
Egg 17 Succor Creek, Owyhee Mountains, OR 3 1/4", from a pit I started in the early 2000s. I've never seen these colors and patterns from any other bed at Succor Creek.

$15.00

SOLD
Egg 18 Lucky Strike Mine, Ochoco Mtns., OR 3 1/4" little beauty, I worked hard for half a day to dig these little buggers!

$10.00

SOLD
Egg 19 Buchanan Old bed, Buchanan OR 3 1/2" very nice egg from this long gone bed.

$14.00

SOLD
Egg 20 Priday Blue Bed, Richardson Ranch OR 2 1/4", I like the razor thin white line.
